Journey As A Teacher: As A Contract Teacher @ Chua Chu Kang Primary School (Sep 2012

I was posted to Chua Chu Kang Primary School (CCKPS) as a contract teacher in Sep 2012. I was teaching P1 and P2 Chinese Language at that time. Besides that, I was assigned to teach PE as well. OMG... I am not a sporty girl. How can I handle this? Luckily, I met nice and experienced PE teachers who were willing to guide me. Other than that, PE working scheme was also provided. Therefore, it was not too difficult to follow it. During the sports carnival, my 2 PE classes even won some prizes which made me proud of them.

P1 Diligence

At CCKPS, I met many helpful and friendly colleagues especially those in Mother Tongue Department. My job scope was totally the same as those permanent teachers (except setting exam papers and PSLE marking). Therefore, I learnt many things (such as teaching pedagogy, classroom management, admin matter etc) during my contract teaching.

I was also a co-form teacher of P2 class. As a co-form teacher, I had to guide them 7 habits with the form teacher (Mdm Priya, Mdm Rasidah) during weekly circle time. I learnt how to build relationship with the students who I seldom meet (as I did not teach them a single subject except one boy in my Chinese class).

Upon completion of my contract teaching, I still found that I love teaching very much. I love to see the students' effort in making achievement or rectifying their mistakes. I love to see them participate in activity and enjoy my lesson. I love to see their smile....
